PMID: 20871461 [Indexed for MEDLINE] These pseudo-tumoral forms of subperiosteal hematoma are more often described in young patients with severe hereditary neurological disorders (1), which are considered to cause delayed bone maturation and looseness of the connection between the periosteum and the underlying bone (2). Subperiosteal hematoma of the orbit is one of the rare lesions that cause exophthalmos after craniomaxillofacial trauma. Presently, there is no consensus for how to treat this disease. Although some reports have suggested a conservative type of therapy, others have recommended surgical treatments be done during the early stages. 2011-09-14 Subperiosteal hematoma of the iliac bone: imaging features of acute and chronic stages with emphasis on pathophysiology 14 September 2011 | Skeletal Radiology, Vol. 41, No. 6 Spontaneous intracranial extradural haematoma associated with frontal sinusitis and orbital involvement [3] Carter, T., et al (2008) Iliac hematoma mimicking neoplasm in adolescent athletes. Subperiosteal hematoma is the accumulation of blood between the periosteum and the skull, which commonly occurs in the neonatal period but rarely in other ages. Subperiosteal hematoma can be self-absorbed in most cases and occasionally may cause ossification.

We present a patient with an idiopathic acute subperi- osteal hematoma treated by emergent office-based needle aspiration. A bone bruise is characterised by three different kinds of bone injuries including: sub-periosteal hematoma, inter-osseous bruising and a sub-chondral lesion,  and the subperiosteal hematoma was drained.

Nontraumatic subperiosteal hematoma (NTSOH) has been reported to be associated with systemic coagulopathies. We present a 52-year-old female with a history of alcohol use who has recently undergone cataract surgery that develops a postoperative NTSOH. Liver disease-associated thrombocytopenia was diagnosed after the development of the hematoma. A 4‐year‐old, spayed female greyhound dog was presented with an acute onset of paraplegia. There was no known history of trauma or coagulopathy. Spinal cord compression was identified on MRI. Intra‐o Abstract We describe a rare case of traumatic subperiosteal orbital hematoma in a child, with intracranial hemorrhagic complication.

Presently, there is no consensus for how to treat this disease. Subperiosteal orbital hemorrhage in the postpartum period has been rarely reported. The authors herein present a female patient who developed acute-onset vertical diplopia, proptosis, mild retro-orbital pain, and restriction of upgaze immediately after labor. Neuroimaging revealed a subperiosteal hematoma along the right orbital roof. With a bone fracture, all of the trabeculae in a region of bone have broken.
